Sleeping Dogs - Great !! But Not Too

This may seem to be a late one .. But i finished the game only yesterday.
I started to play the game not with much expectations but to my surprise it grappled my gaming hook till i completed it.
Lets start the review

STORY

             Wei is an undercover police officer who is assigned to infiltrate a deadly triad SUN ON YEE headed by Uncle Po. He joins the gang with help of his friend jackie and slowly climbs up the ladder in the triad. But complications arise when he lets himself to be close to the triad on the verge of even risking his cover for the triad. Simultaneously things take worse turn when the rival gang 18k attacks the triad and hurts Uncle Po to gain control over it and leaders of the triad fight among themselves for the position of Leader in the organisation.

Questions strikes a deadly blow in Wei's conscious about his role in the triad life ?? Why is 18k attacks SUN ON YEE when there is a deal among them ?? How did Uncle Po died when doctors confirmed his state as normal ??  Most of all WHO AM I ?? WHAT HAVE I BECOME??

GAMEPLAY

Game play seems to be good one but drawback is that character movement controls cannot be changed from W,A,S,D to Up,Left,Down,Right making it difficult for right handers (like me) to control the character during movements.

Another drawback was control seemed to be unresponsive during mission 'Escape from Building' .. The scene where Wei climbs the scaffold the "SPACE" button was not properly responsive to Wei's action.

Other than those 2 drawbacks , controls are good and cool to play.

                                                                Counter attack system

The counter attack system used in the game seemed to be an inspired work from other games but was an great addition to the game. The Red marker showing our enemy's attack was good and response for counter attack was also great.

CHARACTERS

The lead Wei shen is an apt guy to take down SUN ON YEE. Other characters Uncle Po, Pendrew, Raymond, Winston, Chu, Teng etc are picturised perfectly to fill the dish with spice.

The Voice Acting was also good. The actors have infused life into the characters in the game.

SALES:

Sales of Sleeping dogs seemed to kind of dis-heartening to view as the game has the potential of spawning multiple sequels thereby leading to a good franchise..

OVERALL RATING

Sleeping dogs provides a overall good experience .. 

But  from my point of view it lacked a bit of depth in characters and the story seemed to rush through from one sequence to another..

The suspense, tension and intrigues in undercover cop was not maintained well as Wei seemed to be in a relaxed position in the triad and meets his superiors in streets without any suspicion from triad.

Overall Rate :  8 / 10

Go and buy a copy of Sleeping dogs and play it to feel the rushes of blood and chase in your life.

If you are a fan of  hardcore violence Sleeping dogs is a good bet..
