Who could forget the Playstation 2 Epics 'Ico' and 'Shadow of the colossus' ... Both games carved themselves a place in the player's heart.. and were trendsetters in puzzle genre.

The ' Team Ico ', creative team behind these games was appreciated and honored with prestigious awards.

When they announced their new game   'THE LAST GUARDIAN'. 

Expectations heated up to the sky and every gamer ever since waited for its release to grab it .... Everyone believed the game would salvage its competitors with it's stunning game play...

BUT ,  A TWISTED FATE AWAITED ........

STORY AND GAME-PLAY :

TRICO

The last Guardian tells us a story of a boy imprisoned in a large castle, along with a giant Named TRICO.
The game features the relationship between the boy and trico. Initially Trico ignores his interactions but as the game progresses their emotional bonding gets tighter and tighter but leads to an inevitable ending ...

Game play is same as previous games .. It involves puzzle solving mechanisms to complete the game and the gamer also needs to interact with Trico to complete certain quests ....

WHAT HAPPENED ??

The Last Guardian has been in the developmental stage since 2007 .... The game was hinted in early 2008 during job postings...It was speculated that the game would launch for Playstation 3 ...

During 2009, An ingame trailer was released showing the boy and trico intercating with each other and further second trailer was released revealing exclusive footage of gameplay ... Extra information about the game was expected during Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010 but the developers were tight lipped about it. The game was shown later at the 2010 Tokyo Game Show, with an expected release date in late 2011.

Later in year 2011, Fumito Ueda Head of Team Ico revealed that delay in the release was due to changes in developmental concepts and desing and also hinted about releasing it's demo during ICO/COLOSSUS HD collection but the plan was later withdrawn.

But Sudden twist occurred when Ueda announced his departure from the Studio followed Yoshifusa Hayama(Producer) announcing the same, but Ueda confirmed that he would complete the game by the year of 2011.


Later in year 2011, The game was absent in EEE'12 while developers stated that the game is still in developmental process ... Mean while , gaming website advertised that game is being released by end of 2011 urging gamers to pre-order it.... But , later the ad was withdrawn by Sony and refunding the pre-order payments. 


In August 2012, Media noted that The Last Guardian trademark in the US had passed a critical 3-year milestone after its filing without a product, leading to default expiration of the trademark. which implied the game was no longer in production but Sony denied it by stating that game is still in production ...

WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW ??

 Sony is still unsure to release the game in 2013 .. as they feel they don't want to disappoint eager gamers ...
 In Mid-Feb 2013, rumors state that the game might be a launch title for Sony's Playstation 4 ....

But still no solid information has been released by Sony .... leaving the game in Cliffhanger....
