Spec Ops: The Line --- Tragic "Hero"


I didn't know this game even existed until I borrowed this game by friend. I played the game with no expectations at all. But after i completed it, i just got caught in it's warp.

The game had the most unique element in it which were achieved only by few games.

Most of the war games that had great outing focused mainly upon the SHOOT AND KILL persona of the protagonist.  But they fail to reveal the mental and physical trauma, he undergoes in order to get things right.

The ordeal he must face before he kills anyone, the lengths he must travel to get past his mission....

Spec Ops - just dazzles here. It scores a perfect 10 in the portrayal of the characters....

STORY

KONRAD
                    Dubai is hit by worst storms ever. Big Shots of the city escape leaving the common man stranded in the desert storm. Captain Konrad, friend and mentor of Walker owes to save the citizens with decorated 33rd battalion. But no news come from or from his fellow mates. But Weeks later, US Army receives distress call from Konrad and sends Walker along with Lugo and Adams as partners to rescue........



What seemed to be a Simple rescue mission ... turns into a unimaginable horror !!!!




GAMEPLAY AND SETS

DUBAI CITY
                                 Gameplay follows third person perspective where the player controls Walker while Lugo and Adams are controlled by AI. The regular weapon system and control moves are followed like many other games.
                                 The game has additional feature of commanding fellow soldiers to take action against armed hostiles. The player also has ability to heal other AI soldiers when they are wounded.
        

                         The game truly has a very impressive set piece. It brings Dubai to life with it's amazing artistic buildings and detailed interiors. It truly heats up the feel that we are actually playing this game in Dubai.

 

WALKER - HERO / VILLAIN

                                Captain Walker, US Army soldier who worked with Konrad in Kabul. Walker shares a great rapport with Konrad and even sees him as his mentor. Walker is sent to rescue Konrad, after receiving his distress call. Walker earlier seems to have a good control over the situation. He employs tactical play and never gives up his sanity even during tough fights.

WALKER WITH ADAMS AND LUGO


                                 He paces through Dubai ruins with effective management over his fellow mates and proves to be an ideal example for the rescue operation.


ARCHITECT OF DESTRUCTION


                   

              But as the game as the game progresses Walker's sanity starts to spiral out his control, especially after hitting innocent civilians with phosphorus attack. He slowly loses his mental and physical calm and starts his massacre in the name of Konrad, whom he believes, is responsible for killing innocent lives.





 Walker BECOMES AN ARCHITECT FOR HIS OWN DESTRUCTION.  

THE ELEMENT

         "THE ELEMENT" which were missed out by the other War games. The game brings up

The Element of Psychology.

The game not only shows the physical and emotional trauma of Walker, But also depicts "THE LENGTHS A MAN GOES TO PROVE HIS POINT"

Walker, a great War Hero digs his own grave just for the sake to escape the truth that he is the responsible for his action.

VERDICT

                              The game is so much unique in it's own way, it combines both adrenaline pumping shoot to kill sequence and the psychology of human and presents us with a mind numbing and inspiring experience.
